Explore the operational and safety challenges of maintaining Sydney's ferry fleet through a Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) lens. This guided visit to Transdev Sydney Ferries' Balmain Shipyard will provide an insight into the working environment of a maritime maintenance facility. Through a site briefing, walk-through and demonstrations, the visit provides an opportunity to consider aspects such as workplace safety, ergonomics, equipment design, human-machine interactions and the challenges of supporting safe and effective operations in a complex industrial environment. Meeting point: Balmain Shipyard, 72 Waterview Street, Balmain. What to wear/bring: Steel-cap boots are mandatory. Participants must bring their own. Participants must follow all safety instructions provided by the site hosts. Entry may not be permitted without appropriate safety footwear. Capacity: Limited places available.
